Chef's Bio

Chef Daniel T. Griffith describes himself as “interested in the finer things in life,” especially when it comes to food. As a young boy, Daniel would get excited when he arrived at his Grandparents’ house; he’d go to the kitchen, rifle through the cupboards, and pull out all the pots and pans. He’d help with dinner and set the table while Grandpa was preparing oyster stew or grilling steaks. Grandma bakes a delicious apple cobbler for dessert. Oh, the wonderful memories of the mouthwatering aromas.

Daniel has developed his own passion for food and interest in cooking by traveling to different regions. Throughout Daniel’s travels, he has cooked in fine restaurants, cafés, delis, hospitals, and retirement communities. Daniel has worked in the senior living industry for over 10 years and is an American Culinary Federation Certified Culinarian.

Daniel’s decision to become a Chef for seniors occurred when he was asked to be Interim Chef at Harvard Square Retirement Community in Denver, Colorado, in 2002. He realized he enjoyed cooking for the seniors while providing them the comfort of home-style meals with a gourmet touch. Daniel wears a badge of honor as a culinarian, always seeks to learn new techniques, and constantly searches for what flavors marry well.

Inspired by the art and use of different ingredients, Daniel’s favorite things about cooking are being surrounded by fresh food, and the detailed preparation that goes on in the kitchen.

Daniel’s advice to aspiring chefs: “Journey into the unknown and don’t look back. Give yourself to the craft.”
